The EU Data Protection Commissioners Conference meeting in Manchester on 24 & 25 April 1996 notes with satisfaction that the EU Council Working Party has completed its consideration of the Modified Proposal for an ISDN Directive (COM (94) 128 final - COD288). The EU Data Protection Commissioners also note that the current version of the proposal gives attention to data protection. Nevertheless, some basic data protection provisions brought forward by the EU Data Protection Commissioners in their two common statements of December 1994 and 1995 have not been accepted. In any further discussion other improvements should be considered, in particular the finality principle should be expressly stated in the Directive.
